International Mobility for Young Researchers
At SHRO, we believe that scientific progress thrives on diversity, collaboration, and cross-cultural exchange. Over the years, we have funded international mobility programs for over 300 students and researchers, bridging the United States and Italy to cultivate a new generation of globally minded scientists. Our mission is simple: to empower young talent by immersing them in world-class research environments, where innovation knows no borders.

How Our Program Works
Every month, SHRO facilitates exchanges between its laboratories in Philadelphia (USA), Turin, and Siena (Italy). Participants include:
- Undergraduate and Graduate Students: Refining thesis projects or conducting original research in molecular biology, oncology, or biotechnology.
- Early-Career Researchers: Developing skills in cutting-edge techniques like CRISPR gene editing, AI-driven data analysis, or confocal microscopy.
Key Features:
- Hands-On Research: Participants join active SHRO projects, contributing to studies on topics like tumor suppressor genes, metabolic reprogramming, or nanomedicine.
- Mentorship: Direct guidance from SHRO scientists, including Dr. Antonio Giordano and his team, ensures personalized growth.
- Thesis Collaboration: Students align their academic work with SHRO’s research priorities, gaining access to rare datasets and advanced tools.
- Cultural Exchange: Living and working abroad fosters resilience and adaptability traits that define successful scientists.

A Life-Changing Experience
“My two months at SHRO’s Philadelphia lab redefined my career. I not only mastered single-cell sequencing but also learned how science thrives on teamwork across cultures.”
